Project 1: Contextual Study Sketch Journal of a Traditional Street

For this project, we were tasked to examine and research on a specific traditional street. I chose to focus my research on the Jalan Tun H.S. Lee of Chinatown, Kuala Lumpur due to its diverse cultural spots.

Through the tangible elements of architecture and space, as well as the intangible socio-cultural characteristics, this project introduced us to ways of deciphering the significant "lexicons" of traditional streets. It gave us the opportunity to comprehend the particular conditions that create the distinctive place identity and sociocultural significance of the traditional streets.
