REFLECTION
This module has been an enlightening exploration, delving into the essence of poetic architecture and the intrinsic elements defining the Malay Kampung. It consisted of two significant projects, each offering unique insights and challenges that broadened my perspective on architectural expression and contextual understanding.

The first group project laid the foundation by acquainting us with the concept of poetic architecture and the cultural significance embedded within a Malay Kampung. Creating two distinct models – one linear and one concentric – provided a canvas to express our comprehension of the Kampung's essence. This exercise encouraged a deeper exploration of spatial narratives and their embodiment within cultural contexts. It had been a good experience as despite having different ideas, it was not very hard for all seven of our team members to be on the same wavelength.

The second project, divided into two parts, was a hands-on immersion into Kampung Morten. The site visit was a pivotal experience, allowing us to absorb the tangible and intangible aspects of the environment, as well as identify the Genius Loci.

The last part of the module was the individual design project, wherein the knowledge accumulated throughout the semester was synthesized into the creation of a discovery center for Kampung Morten. This task demanded a comprehensive application of acquired concepts, integrating elements like genius loci, linear and concentric circulation, and poetic architectural expressions.

This module has been transformative, not only in refining my architectural skills but also in nurturing a deeper appreciation for the cultural and contextual aspects influencing architectural design. Engaging with the Malay Kampung's essence challenged me to think further, emphasizing the importance of cultural sensitivity and storytelling within design. Despite all the challenges faced, my peers, tutor and module coordinator have shown great support, contributing to my growth in this architectural journey.
