From the knowledge of the last assignment, we were tasked to design meaningful architectural environments by using architectural principles. To create a meaningful architectural gesture, we had to investigate conceptual and practical methods. Forms and places were created using the chosen architectural principle(s). The assignment emphasised the separation between contemporary society and environment and the need for reflection and a closer relationship with it. We were to create a Contemplative Pavilion that improves how people and nature interact. The pavilion should be of a minimum volume of 125 cubic metre and a place for solitary reflection. Along with considering the tactile and building aspects, we also looked at how materials affect architectural space. The goal of the assignment was to promote conversation, critical thinking, and the use of drawing and modelling as vital design tools. We were able to show that we can use architectonics to build a straightforward structure and that we had a basic understanding of materiality and details in order to incorporate experiential characteristics into the design by completing this assignment.
