ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN 2
REFLECTION
This module, comprising three projects, offered a comprehensive exploration of architectural principles and their practical application. In the initial project, I delved into architectural diagramming to simplify and abstract concepts, developing skills to effectively express architectural ideas. Building upon this foundation, the second project challenged me to design a Contemplative Pavilion that fostered a stronger connection between people and nature. Through this assignment, I acquired a deeper understanding of materiality, details, and the seamless integration of architectural principles into the design process.
In the final project, I synthesized the knowledge and skills gained from the previous projects to create a Tropical Sanctuary within a specific site. This endeavor highlighted the significance of contextual integration and user requirements, as I endeavored to strike a balance between architectural components and external design ideals. Throughout the module, my critical thinking abilities were honed, while my proficiency in drawing and modeling was further developed. Ultimately, these experiences provided a robust foundation for my future pursuits, equipping me with the ability to conceive and craft meaningful architectural spaces that harmonize with their surroundings.
This module significantly contributed to my self-development as an architecture student. Through completing three projects, I gained a deeper understanding of architectural principles and design processes. The module also enhanced my teamwork skills through collaborative group projects, fostering effective communication, cooperation, and task delegation. Additionally, the emphasis on presentations honed my ability to articulate complex ideas concisely and engage the audience. These experiences have equipped me with valuable skills for future endeavors, enabling me to work effectively in teams, communicate design concepts proficiently, and continue my growth as an architect.
